Our Kids
We've got new image gallery software. We'll eventually move all the pictures over to this new system. Until then, you can view the older pictures on the previous gallery pages.
Honeymoon
In the interests of "just get it out there," we've just dumped the entire
set of Michael's digitial pictures onto the site. Over time, we'll weed
out the obvious pointless pictures, and annotate the rest. At least you
can enjoy the beautiful scenery that we saw.

Dowagiac River
On
August 17, 2003, Michael and Christina joined Joan Taylor (Christina's
mother) and a dozen other people for a paddle down the Dowagiac river
in southwest Michigan. This picture shows Joan fixing lunch next to the
happy couple. (800x600,69k)
Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
For
seven days in September of 2003, Christina, Michael, Chris Edwards, and
Susan Wilson paddled over 50 miles through some of the most pristine
wilderness in the country. This photo was taken at the beginning of the
trip, when everything was still dry. We got in very late the night before,
and we slept in a bit, so we were getting a late start on the day. It
was sometime after noon when this picture was taken. (800x729,142k)
At
the second portage on the first day, they stopped to enjoy the view of
some small rapids. It was a cool, cloudy day, but it didn't rain. The
weather was great for most of the trip. The temperature
got down into the 30s at night, but it didn't rain until the second-to-last
day
(when
it dumped over 6 inches in 24 hours). Everyone took turns filtering the
lake water for cooking and drinking. It was common to be sitting
on a rock like this, with the Nalgene bottles (like the pink bottle in
the picture) between their knees. (432x275,38k)
On
the only day without paddling, Christina and Michael got engaged (see
complete story). This picture shows the couple lying on a rock at the
water's edge, surrounded by candles that Michael had surreptitiously
carried on the first half of the trip. The candles are the only sources
of light for the photo (the northern lights were out, but not bright
enough to illuminate much). (800x496,37k)
The
following day, the group took advantage of strong winds and sailed across
one of the larger lakes by lashing the two canoes together and stringing
the dining tarp between two paddles. At the end of this lake, the largest
waterfall seen on the trip provided a grand backdrop for many pictures.
Later that day, Christina and Susan caught several
fish, providing a great dinner. (800x762,70k)
